Course Correction
On an ocean liner bound for New York, a vacationing American school teacher meets a relocating British professor. Sparks fly as their battle of wits transforms into a lesson in chemistry.
About
When Islas Bennett, a vibrant American schoolteacher boards a luxury ocean liner for her annual retreat, she expects all the glitz and glamour that she misses from life’s routines back home. Instead this peaceful escape is upended when she meets a rigid British Professor Edward Blake, who is aboard for a one-way trip to America and challenges her at every turn. The confines of the ship result in a series of forced encounters and their intellectual sparring transforms into a vulnerable “lesson in chemistry,” forcing both to decide if their connection can survive beyond the New York harbour.
Providing a comedic mirror to this new romance is Edward’s friends Oliver and Vivian. They are a married couple struggling to navigate the “digital noise” of their own lives. As they trade work emails for ballroom dance classes, their journey proves that even the most established relationships require a constant “course correction.” Set against the opulence of a transatlantic crossing, the story explores the rediscovery of authentic human connection in a world that has forgotten how to unplug.
